The Riviera Bakehouse, located in Ardsley at 660 Saw Mill River Rd. (Route 9A), will be closing at the end of January 2024 after more than 70 years in business, the owners announced on the business's website.
The current owners, who have operated the bakery for 30 years, said that the decision to close was a heavy one to make.
"Despite how difficult it was to make this decision, in the end, we feel it was the right decision for us and our work-life balance," the owners wrote in their closing announcement.
The Bakehouse is known for its baked breakfast items, pies, tarts, sandwiches, soups, and custom-made cakes. Following the closing announcement, the bakery will no longer offer custom cakes until the end of January, the owners said.
Although the bakery will soon be shutting down, fans of the establishment will still be able to visit the Bakehouse at the Tarrytown Train Station at 2 Depot Plaza, which will remain open.
"It’s the perfect destination to meet friends for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. We have a full coffee bar, a breakfast & lunch menu, grab n' go dinners, cupcakes, cookies, and more," the owners wrote of the train station location.
Those who shop at the Tarrytown location will soon be able to pick up their items within 20 minutes of placing their order. The Tarrytown store will also soon offer custom cupcakes, custom-decorated cookies, and six-inch cakes.
"Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your celebrations over the years!" the owners said, adding, "We will miss the Riviera, but we hope to see you in Tarrytown soon!"
